Swarmfest 2009 was held in Santa Fe, New Mexico on June 28-30, 2009. The conference took place at the Santa Fe Complex ( http://sfcomplex.org/wordpress/ ), and our local host was Stephen Guerin from the Redfish Group ( http://www.redfish.com ) and the Sante Fe Complex. The program chair this year was Gary An.
The talks spanned a wide range of applications, ranging from social networks associated with alcoholism to ant foraging to intracellular molecular reaction pathways. We also had lively discussions regarding the use of models, the goal of modeling, and the place of agent-based modeling in a larger scientific context. The format this year hearkened back to the more discussion-based, problem-question oriented, workshop-like environment of Swarmfests of yore. For the list of talks and to able to download some of the presentations see Swarmfest 2009 Program.
