News Swarmfest 2010 First Announcement We are happy to announce the site and dates for Swarmfest 2010. We will be returning to Santa Fe at the Santa Fe Complex (Website http://sfcomplex.org/wordpress/ ) from Sunday, June 20 to Tuesday, June 22, 2010. We will be arranging a special Swarmfest rate at the Sage Inn (Website http://www.santafesageinn.com/ ); details to follow soon. Abstract submissions can be sent to Swarmfest2010@gmail.com as 1 page .pdf files. Topics welcomed include: domain specific applications of Agent-based modeling, ABM toolkit development, optimization and analysis of ABMs, and implementation of ABMs on high-performance computing platforms. For a summary of the meeting, the Swarmfest 2009 program and abstracts, and pictures from our Photohistorian and Long-time Swarmer, Pietro Terna, see the Swarmfest 2009 Page SDG Google Summer of Code students and Projects from 2008 Swarm Development Group were assigned two students by Google's Summer of Code program, Haruka Matsuzaki and Pavel Vinogradov. Pavel is investigated ways to describe models using ontologies and Haruka looked at ways to control simulations by wire using a web browser, and probably using XML-RPC. Pavel has contributed a wiki page on 2008 Summer of Code which you can find here. Gary An is physician on the faculty of Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine and pioneer of agent-based modeling in medicine. John Pepper is a professor in the University of Arizona's Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology and member of the Santa Fe Institute's external faculty. Information on the board and its officers is here. Swarm for Ubuntu and Debian Linux Jakson Aquino produced detailed instructions for making Swarm from source on Ubuntu/Debian Linux, and some binaries for Ubuntu 7.04. Thank you Jakson!
