modelling@swarm.org: The email community of agent-based modelers. This email list discusses topics of general interest to agent-based modelers. We encourage participation by anyone interested in ABMs. For additional information, to see the archives, or to sign up, go here.

SwarmFest. SwarmFest is SDG's annual agent-based modeling conference. SwarmFest is informal, interdisciplinary, non-denominational (users of Repast, NetLogo, etc. and even FORTRAN are welcome), and international. SwarmFest is an excellent place to present new or tentative results, talk about methodological issues, and meet new collaborators.

Which software platform is best for you? A page of reviews and comparisons of ABM software platforms

Template software is one of the best tools for getting started programming models-it provides simple working code that can be modified as needed. This page provides an extensive series of template models for five platforms: MASON, NetLogo, Repast, and Java and Objective-C Swarm.

Integrated development environments (IDEs) can make it much easier to program and test an ABM. Here is information on using Swarm, Repast, MASON, metaABM and Ascape in IDEs, especially Eclipse.

Speeding up your model. Several tricks for increasing execution speed are now on the Swarm FAQ. Not all are specific to Swarm; and all the techniques using the gcc compiler will work for any language gcc compiles.
